# FMVisual teaching exercises

For real students, use this packet with [the teaching method](../docs/TEACHING-METHOD.md). The method
must be frozen before the pilot; the initial technical rehearsal checks the packet
and assessment tools, not human learning.

## First session

1. Record your prior JavaScript, Three.js and graphics experience in the learner record.
2. Complete the baseline questions before opening the reference material.
3. Read the Framework manual's concepts, tutorial, API and settings sections.
4. Read [the activity](ACTIVITY.md). Record predictions before running changes.
5. Build and verify your isolated contribution. Keep failures and help requests.
6. Complete a transfer and recipient handoff; score the work using the method's rubric.

The runnable starter is `src/examples/first-scene.js` with host `first-app.js`.
The app must run from the FMVisual repository through Vite, not by opening an HTML
file directly from disk. For the classroom, make a complete local checkout per
learner or pair, install from the lockfile, and use distinct local ports. Do not
have ten learners overwrite the shared starter in the teacher's checkout.

Reference pages:

- `/framework.html#concepts` for what the representations mean.
- `/framework.html#tutorial` for actual starter source and the working room.
- `/framework.html#api` for the world and lifecycle contracts.
- `/framework.html#settings-reference` for host settings and cost.
- `/methods.html#world-edges` for bounded-world strategies.

Copy `templates/LEARNER-RECORD.md` for each participant. Keep raw records in the
run's evidence directory and summarize them in a separate report. Never fill a
missing observation with an expected answer. Teacher corrections belong in the
assistance log as well as in the final result.

## Evidence files

`evidence/` holds dated protocol snapshots, technical check logs and learner
observations. Generated screenshots remain in ignored `artifacts/`. A report must
say which kind of participant actually took part. Human recruitment and delayed
retention are separate from an automated technical rehearsal.

The facilitator prepares sessions with `FACILITATOR.md` and assigns the five-pair
rotation in `COHORT-PLAN.md`. These guides include assessment answers and transfer
variants; hand students the learner packet and references first. Do not expose a
transfer requirement before the independent attempt.
